For Sale - 1998 Eddy Merckx Titanium-AX Road Bike
Author Last Post
I am the original owner of this bike and I’ve owned it since May of 1998. It was custom built for me by Colorado Cyclist per my component preferences. I have taken meticulous care of it and with the exception of the saddle, wheelset and numerous chains and tire replacements it is as I bought it. Though I have put many miles on it, it is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical shape.

It is lighter than CroMo and has a more forgiving ride, while being very stiff through the Bottom Bracket where it is important. This is due to the oval shape of the seat and down tubes at the BB. Also adding to this stiffness are the very “beefy” chainstays. The pictures I’ve attached include all of the places where there are cosmetic blemishes from the years and as you can see these are minimal.

Three years ago I bought a new wheelset (Neuvation R28 SL). This lightened the bike significantly. The Neuvations are about half the weight of the wheels they replaced, field serviceable and “bullet proof.” They are as “dead on” true as the day I bought them.
