Ride for 5-21-2011 - a new route with a surprise f...
Author Last Post
This Saturday morning, May 21st, the City of Glendale is opening a new bike-ped
bridge over the Loop 101 at 63rd Avenue. In keeping with our typical 45 mile/3
hour ride, I have created a new route which is designed so that a 6:30 AM
departure from Bicycle Vibe at 2605 W. Carefree Hwy, will allow us to arrive at
this new bridge right after it opens and get us back to our starting point right
around 9:30. Overall, the route is fairly flat, the only notable climb is on
59th Avenue through Thunderbird Park on our return leg.

The City of Glendale is working hard on supporting the bicycling community and I
think it is fitting that cyclists should show their appreciation by joining in
celebrating this new bridge. I have added this event to the calendar at
AzBikeClub.com and included a link to the route map. Come on out and be part of
history.
