Exploration Rides
Author Last Post
Traditionally, the Desert Foothills chapter of ABC has allowed for the possibility of a special "exploration" ride when there are five Saturdays in a month. July has five Saturdays and I've been looking for an opportunity to ride the newly upgraded sections of Rt. 179 between the Village of Oak Creek and Sedona. This segment of road was featured on the cover of the League of American Bicyclists' (LAB) March-April issue of their magazine, "American Bicyclist"

This is a great excuse to escape the Valley heat for a few hours. For the ABC Desert Foothills ride on Saturday, July 30, I'm thinking that leaving the Anthem-Tramonto area around 6 AM (by car) should get riders to The Bike and Bean Cafe in the Village of Oak Creek by about 7:30. Riding north to Sedona and back is about 15 miles of rolling riding through beautiful red rock formations with numerous opportunities to take in the sights. Other longer ride options are available.
